Steel Buildings New York, NY
Upstate New York gets snow that most of the country only reads about, and the roof figure it produces decides the building — gauge, roof style and anchoring together. Everything else follows from that: enclosed rather than open, tall enough to be useful, and certified to what your county enforces. Delivery and installation are included in the price.

Tractors, snow gear and hay. New York keeps them in steel. Galvanized steel, delivered and installed across New York. Lake-effect snow off Ontario. New York steel carries it.

The snowbelts, the valley and the Adirondacks
New York's winter is not evenly distributed. Where you are relative to the lakes and the mountains changes the roof figure by a wide margin, and the roof figure changes the building.
The western snowbelt
Lake Erie and Lake Ontario put extra snow on this corner every winter, and the figures here are among the heaviest we quote against. A straight or vertical roof and a heavier gauge are not upgrades — they are the specification.
Central New York and the Mohawk Valley
Dairy country and the Tug Hill plateau, which takes more snow than anywhere else in the eastern United States. Equipment barns, shop buildings and enclosed storage, all engineered around what sits on the roof from December.
The Capital Region and the Hudson Valley
Lighter snow than the west but still a real winter, on smaller and more expensive lots. Enclosed garages and workshops, where setbacks and town review shape the order as much as the weather does.
What moves a New York price
One factor dominates here, and understanding it is what makes two quotes comparable.
Snow load, and which county sets it
The largest variable in the state by a wide margin. A snowbelt or Adirondack county produces a materially heavier building than the same footprint in the Hudson Valley. That is engineering, not markup, and a quote that ignores it is not a quote for the same building.
Roof style
Regular, A-frame horizontal, then vertical, in ascending order of cost. In upstate New York the vertical or straight roof is what gets a load off the building instead of storing it until March.
Open, or closed in
This fork almost always ends in walls here. A cover keeps snow off a vehicle; an enclosed building keeps out blowing snow and road salt, which is what actually ruins stored equipment over a New York winter.
The pad is not ours
We do not do groundwork or foundations. Frost depth upstate is serious and the freeze-thaw cycle works on a pad every year — get it engineered and priced locally before the install is scheduled.
What New York puts inside for winter
Enclosed leads, and that is the snow talking. Six types, in the order they come up here — start from the job, then we will engineer the roof over it.
Still looking for the right building? Tell us the job.
Most people know what has to go inside long before they know which building that is. Tell us what it has to do, and we'll match it — from an open carport to a fully enclosed commercial span.
Permits, 62 counties, towns and villages
New York layers county, town and village authority, so the address decides more than the county map does. Find yours below.
- 01
Inside a city, town or village
Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Yonkers and the smaller cities each run their own permitting, and towns and villages issue a great many of the permits upstate. Expect a stamped drawing to be part of the submission.
- 02
County land
The county office is behind the town, and the snow figure is the thing to ask about first — in the snowbelt and the Adirondacks it decides the building rather than just the paperwork.
Either way, what we hand you
Engineer-stamped drawings for any jurisdiction that requires them. Confirm the figures yours enforces, tell us what they are, and we certify the building to them with the cost of certification quoted up front.
Find the county you're building in.
Search a city or a county and we'll tell you which one you're in and who issues the permit there. No form, no email.

Where we deliver in New York.
This is the list we publish, not a boundary. A town on it is certainly covered; a town missing from it is a question rather than a no. Search for yours below, and if it is not here, one call settles it before you spend anything.
New York, specifically.
The five or six things people ask before they order, answered for this state rather than in general.
