Metal Garden Sheds

A garden shed that keeps up with the gardener.

Whether you have always had a green thumb or you are just trying to make the backyard look presentable, the shed is the part that quietly decides how easy the work is. Tools you can find, bags that stay dry, a potting bench that is not sharing space with the car. A galvanized steel shed does that job and keeps doing it, because there is no wood in the frame to rot and no resin panel to go brittle in the sun.

Not all metal buildings are equal, and the frame is where that shows. Ours is galvanized steel — 14-gauge for a standard residential build, 12-gauge where snow and wind loads are serious — with 29- or 26-gauge roofing depending on your climate. You choose the footprint, the roof style, and the roof, trim and wainscot colors, so the shed reads as part of the property rather than something parked on it.

Starting points to customize

Small footprints, built to your spec.

These are the compact shed footprints we build most. Any of them can change — width, length, door, roof style, colors — so treat them as a starting point rather than a fixed catalogue.

Want a footprint that isn't here?

Garden sheds are among the easiest buildings to change. Set the size and the door, pick your colors, and a specialist will price it.

What a garden shed becomes

It rarely stays just a shed.

Most people buy one for the mower and the hand tools. What it turns into afterwards is the interesting part — these are the uses our customers put them to.

01
Garden tools & potting

Spades, shears, hoses, soil and seed trays, all in one dry place with a bench you can actually work at.

02
Mower & yard equipment

The mower, trimmer and blower live behind a lock instead of under a tarp or wedged into the garage.

03
An art studio

A quiet, lockable room at the end of the garden, away from the noise of the house.

04
A home gym or office

Insulate it and add a window, and the shed becomes the room the house does not have.

05
A kids' playhouse

Somewhere that is theirs, weather-tight and solid, rather than a plastic shell that lasts two summers.

06
Farm & smallholding storage

Feed, fencing tools and tack kept dry and secure close to where the work happens.

Before you buy

What actually separates a good shed from a cheap one.

A shed is a small purchase, which is exactly why it is worth two minutes of scrutiny. These are the things to check on any quote, ours included.

01

Is the steel galvanized?

If the frame is not galvanized steel, it is at risk from the first wet season. This is the single question that separates a building from a box.

02

What is actually warranted?

A reputable company will put warranties in writing rather than describing them. Ask which parts are covered, and for how long.

03

How much can you change?

Size, roof style, colors, door placement — a supplier who cannot move on those is selling you their shed, not yours.

04

Can it be secured and ventilated?

A shed you cannot lock is storage you do not control, and one you cannot ventilate will sweat over anything you leave in it.

Sizes & prices

How big should a garden shed be?

Garden sheds sit at the small end of what we build — roughly 10 to 12 feet wide, and as long as the run of fence or wall you have to give it.

Work backwards from the longest thing you own. A shed that fits the mower with the handle up, or the ladder lying flat, is the one you will not resent in two years.

If you plan to walk a vehicle in and out daily, you want a garage or a carport instead — a shed is for what stays put.

Your options

The choices that make it yours.

Every one of these is set when you order. Choosing them up front costs less than changing them later.

A vertical roof sheds rain and snow along its length rather than across it, which is why it is the roof to pick where weather is a real consideration. On a small shed in a mild climate, a regular roof is usually the sensible economy.

Two ways to pay

Own it sooner, pay it monthly.

A garden shed is one of the smaller things we build, and it can still go on finance if you would rather not pay it in one go. A little down at 6.9% APR, or no-credit-check Rent-to-Own.

We are building a barndominium and they delivered the shell on schedule. Our contractor said the framing was straighter than most stick-built shells he sees.

Loafing shed for the horses showed up exactly when they said it would. The crew leveled and anchored on uneven ground and didn't try to charge extra.

Hurricane-rated anchors and engineer-stamped drawings were ready when our county asked. Permit went through the first time.
