One bay, four walls, and a door that locks.
A carport keeps the sun and the rain off. A one-car garage does everything a carport can't: it locks. Four solid steel walls and a roll-up door turn an open slab into a space you can walk away from — no wind-driven rain on the seats, no hail from the side, no wondering whether the tools will still be there in the morning.
At 12 to 16 feet wide it's the smallest enclosed building we make, and for a lot of people it's the most useful. It's a motorcycle shop, a woodworking bench, a locked home for the classic car, or simply the daily driver kept out of the weather behind a door only you can open. Bolted, braced, galvanized steel — engineered to your county's wind and snow loads, not a shed that folds in the first storm.
Single-car garages, yours to spec.
Each is a starting point — set the door size, raise the eave for a truck, add a walk door or windows, then pick your colors. Or design a footprint to the inch.

What people actually do with a single bay.
A one-car garage is rarely just parking. It's the cheapest lockable, weather-tight square footage you can add — and buyers put it to work in ways an open carport never could.
Bike, lift, and a full tool wall behind a locked door — the classic single-bay build space, dry and secure year-round.
A saw, a bench, and a wall of cabinets. Four walls mean you can leave a project out and dust stays in.
Out of the UV, out of sight, out of the weather. A locked steel bay is the cheapest good garage a restoration will ever sit in.
Raise the eave to 9–10 ft for an SUV or truck. No frost scraping, no hail dents, no faded paint — and it locks.
Insulate the walls, add a window, and a 14×24 becomes a private room the house doesn't have space for.
Mowers, e-bikes, the second fridge, seasonal gear — a garage secures what a carport leaves in the open.
The two numbers that make or break a single bay.
Width gets the attention, but for a one-car garage it's length and door height that decide whether it actually works. Get these right and the bay feels twice its size.
12 ft wide — the true single
Enough to park and open a door with walk-around room on one side. Right for a compact, a motorcycle build, or a tight lot.
14 ft wide — the comfort size
The sweet spot: room to open a car door AND walk the far wall for shelving or a bench. The size most buyers wish they'd started at.
20–24 ft long
20 ft parks the vehicle; 24 ft leaves a full workbench wall behind it. Length is the cheapest square footage you can add, so size up here.
Door & eave height
A 9–10 ft eave with an 8-ft roll-up fits cars and small SUVs; go to a 12 ft eave and a 10-ft door to clear a full-size or lifted truck.
How big is a one-car garage?
A single-car garage runs 12 to 16 feet wide— enough for one vehicle plus room to move around it. Unlike an open carport, it's fully enclosed: walls, a lockable roll-up door, and whatever walk door or windows you add.
The choice that matters most is length and door height. Search or scroll the single-bay sizes below and hover any one to see the vehicle it fits, its SKU, and its price.
Most buyers who go back wish they'd added length up front. Financed, a longer bay is a few dollars a month.

We build it on your slab; you get the only key.
Our crew erects the whole thing on your prepared, level site — most single-bay garages go up in a single visit, anchored to your concrete, asphalt, or ground. Because it's enclosed, a poured slab is strongly recommended; it makes the door seal and lets us use the strongest concrete anchors.
- Anchors for concrete, asphalt, or ground — included
- Certified builds: engineer-stamped for your county's wind & snow loads
- 12- or 14-gauge galvanized steel — carries our 20-year rust warranty
- Factory-direct pricing with no middleman markup
Owners say it best.
Real, verified Google reviews from owners who bought their building from us, straight from our business profile.
View all reviewsWe are building a barndominium and they delivered the shell on schedule. Our contractor said the framing was straighter than most stick-built shells he sees.
Loafing shed for the horses showed up exactly when they said it would. The crew leveled and anchored on uneven ground and didn't try to charge extra.
Hurricane-rated anchors and engineer-stamped drawings were ready when our county asked. Permit went through the first time.
