Steel Buildings Alabama, AL
Alabama's problem is not cold, it is water and wind — eight humid months, a spring storm season that arrives in earnest, and a Gulf Coast that corrodes anything untreated. Galvanized steel is the answer to all three, and a roof style and gauge chosen for your county is the answer to the fourth. Delivery and installation are included in the price.
Boats, mowers and pickups. Alabama parks them under steel. Galvanized steel, delivered and installed across Alabama. Mobile damp, Valley ice, storms between. Steel holds up.

Three bands, and each one gets wetter going south
Alabama is only about 330 miles top to bottom, but the water changes the whole way down it — and water, not cold, is what decides how a steel building is built here.
The Tennessee Valley
The one part of Alabama that sees real winter. Ice storms rather than snowfall, which loads a roof and a power line the same way — this is where a vertical roof and a heavier gauge start earning their money.
Central Alabama
Heat, humidity and the severe-weather season that runs spring and again in late fall. Anchoring is the line on the order that matters most here; what a building is bolted to decides how it behaves in a straight-line wind.
The Gulf Coast
Salt in the air and one of the wettest corners of the country. Galvanized framing is not an upgrade down here, it is the reason the building is still square in twenty years, and a vertical roof sheds rain instead of tracking it along a seam.
Where an Alabama quote actually moves
The starting price buys a footprint. Everything after it is a decision, and these four are the ones that change the number most.
Open, or closed in
A carport and a garage of the same footprint are not close in price, and in Alabama that is the first real fork. Walls buy security and dry storage, not warmth — nothing here needs heating six months a year.
Roof style
Regular, A-frame horizontal, then vertical, in ascending order of cost. Vertical is the one designed for inclement weather, and on a wet, storm-prone coast it is the upgrade that pays back rather than the one that flatters.
Certification for your county
A certified building is engineered to the wind and snow figures your jurisdiction enforces, with gauge and anchoring chosen to meet them. Where your county requires it, it is not optional and it changes the price.
The slab is not ours
We do not pour concrete or do foundation work. If the building needs a slab or piers, that is a local contractor and a separate cost — and on soft Gulf-side ground it is worth pricing before you order.
What the building has to do, before what it looks like
Start from the job. In Alabama that usually means keeping sun and rain off something that already lives outside, which is why open covers lead and enclosed buildings follow.
Still looking for the right building? Tell us the job.
Most people know what has to go inside long before they know which building that is. Tell us what it has to do, and we'll match it — from an open carport to a fully enclosed commercial span.
Permits, and the city limit that decides them
Alabama has 67 counties, and whether your address sits inside a city is the question that changes the answer. Find yours below, then two things settle the rest.
- 01
Inside city limits
Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa each run their own permitting, and the coastal cities add their own wind requirements on top. Plan on filing and on the reviewer wanting a stamped drawing.
- 02
Unincorporated county land
Looser, and inconsistent from one county to the next. Setbacks and — near the rivers and the coast — floodplain review are the two that stop an order that was otherwise ready to go.
Either way, what we hand you
Engineer-stamped drawings for any jurisdiction that asks. Confirm what yours wants before you order, tell us what it is, and the building gets certified to it with the cost of certification shown up front.
Find the county you're building in.
Search a city or a county and we'll tell you which one you're in and who issues the permit there. No form, no email.

* Design wind speed and ground snow load are declared by each jurisdiction — the International Residential Code prints both blank for the local authority to fill in (Table R301.2).
Where we deliver in Alabama.
This is the list we publish, not a boundary. A town on it is certainly covered; a town missing from it is a question rather than a no. Search for yours below, and if it is not here, one call settles it before you spend anything.
Alabama, specifically.
The five or six things people ask before they order, answered for this state rather than in general.
